‘Something New From Repetition’ was an installation project by Kleiner Shames made possible by being awarded the Genesis Foundation Kickstart Fund in 2022.
Four forms that appear in different materials and scales across his practice were built from wood and metal to explore how repetition could create change, movement and new ways of seeing.
Culminating in an exhibition which was first shown at the then Jupiter Gallery, Newlyn, Cornwall, from 22nd – 27th August 2022.
The project was then invited to Tate, St Ives on 22nd September 2023 as part of a Late at Tate event to coincide with ‘The Casablanca Art School’ exhibition. This display included the sculptural forms in the entrance rotunda of the building, a documentary film by Andy Lawrence, and a participatory mural led by Kleiner Shames.
Thanks to Patch Plummer for assisting in the build and to Andy Lawrence for documenting the project.
